Izumi Uchiha was introduced late in the show. Her first appearance came in Naruto Shippuden. She is something of a mystery asfans are only given brief moments with her character. She was close to both Itachi Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha. She started life as a normal, sweetkunoichi from Konoha.

Her name can be translated to fountain in English, likely a reference to her refreshing nature. She believes in peace and is loyal to her village and the Uchiha clan. Due to tragedy, she unlocksher clan's kekkei genkai at a shockingly young age. She never progressespast her status as a genin, but had a lot of potential that went unnoticed.
10 Only Half-Uchiha
Izumi is born to an Uchiha mother and a non-Uchiha father. Though she bares the Uchiha name, she isn't considered an official member of the clan because of her father. Her status prevents her from being invited to certain clan activities.
The fact that she was only half-Uchiha might have made her weaker. She seems to have less chakra control than most members of the Uchiha clan. Beinga half-Uchiha is quite rare,though fans have speculated that any other half-Uchiha might have the same weaknesses.
9 Loyalty ToHer Clan & Village
Izumi was a kind-hearted girl who always put others before herself. She believed in helping others, even if that meant sacrificing herself. Even though she wasn't considereda full member of her clan, she was extremely loyal and dedicated to her clan.
She was also loyal to her village. She disapproved of the Uchiha's plan to rebel against the village. She believed that her clan would eventually see the error of their ways and recommit their loyalty to Konoha.
8 Her Father's Death During The Nine-Tails Attack
The death of Izumi's father had a profound impact on her life. She watched him die at a young age. Her father's death occurred during the Nine-Tails Attack, and she saw him sacrifice his own life for the safety of others. She desired to live her life to be as selfless as he was and live up to his example.

His death also caused her to awaken her Sharingan. She had trouble controlling the Sharingan, even as she got older.
7 Had A Crush On Itachi During Her Academy Days
Izumi entered Konoha Academy where she would be trained for her future life as a ninja. She would end up being in the same class as Itachi Uchiha. Like many of her classmates, she would develop a crush on Itachi.
Unfortunately for Izumi, Itachi didn't return her feelings. In fact, he seemed completely uninterested in her. Itachi never seemed particularly connected to anyone or anything at school. Then, he found out she had awakened the Sharingan. After learning that, he seemed more interested in her.
6 Made Sasuke Cry
Sasuke, much like his brother, didn't seem to like Izumi very much at first. After Itachi saves Izumi's life, she got the chance to meet Sasuke as she was thanking Itachi. In an iconic scene from the anime, she tries to hold baby Sasuke.
Sasuke gets upset and starts pushing her away. Itachi takes his little brother back and soothes him. Izumi was hoping to use that moment to really connect with Itachi. She had wanted to use the situation to her advantage and was clearly upset that things didn't go as planned.
5 She Graduated Early
Itachi Uchiha was a well-known, gifted student. He was so advanced that he was allowed to graduate early. He was only seven-years-old when he was given special permission to leave the academy early.
Izumi also graduated early. She graduated at age eleven, a full year early. She might not have been quite as brilliant as Itachi, but she was smart enough to finish school early. Typically Konoha only allowed early graduation during turbulent times, so it's implied that Izumi graduated when things were difficult.
4 Bonded With Itachi Through The Sharingan & Sweets
Itachi initially showed interest in Izumi because of her Sharingan. He wanted tounlock it just like Izumi had. Several times she failed to connect with Itachi, then she finally got the chance.
She ran into him shortly after he had graduated. They caught up as they spent time by the water. Izumi had some sweets and was surprised when Itachi expressed interest in the sweets. Izumi had assumed that someone has brilliant as Itachi wouldn't be able to enjoy such things. This simple moment had a lasting impact on how thetwo saw each other.
3 Loved Itachi
Though Itachi expressed very little interest in Izumi, Izumi was very much interested in Itachi. The two met at school and she spent a lot of time trying to catch his attention. Their relationship harkens to Sasuke's relationship with Sakura.

Much like Sasuke, Itachi showed little interest in all the women around him. Similarly to how Sasuke eventually returned Sakura's love, Itachi eventually returned Izumi's love.Itachi's father would encourage her to pursue a relationship with his wayward son.
2 Died During The Uchiha Massacre
Itachi did come to love Izumi. His love for her wouldn't save her when he was ordered to wipe out the entire clan. Despite not officially being an Uchiha, Itachi would be forced to kill her too. In the anime, she was killed by Toby, but it was Itachi that killed her in the official canon.
Izumi, who had already learned of the Uchiha's betrayal to the village, would be extremely accepting of her death. She believed her death was for the greater good, just like her father's had been.
1 Her Final Moments Lived Out Through Itachi's Genjutsu
Izumi's final moments were filled with happy memories. She was the only one that Itachi spared from a painful death. Itachi put Izumi into a genjutsu. While under the illusion, she lived out an entire life with Itachi.
The life included a promotion to chunin,marriage to Itachi, and multiple children that she saw grow to adulthood. She experienced growing old and falling ill. Itachi nursed her while she was on her deathbed. Izumi then died of old age, while still being a young woman.
