My favorite stories in Warhammer are the Ork that went back in time and killed himself to have a second of his favorite weapon, f*cking up everything. Funny fact about the Lasgun. In any other setting the Lasgun would probably be an overpowered weapon that would get added to the Geneva convention. Pin-point accurate, hits with a force greater than a 50 cal. sniper rifle, can catch you on fire, and lots more. But because its 40k, its not considered a great weapon. XD

The salamaders are the best, mainly cause they’re nice boys and go home to their moms and pops and help out the little man where they can, they have actually come to appreciate their regular human counterparts and wouldn’t necessarily sacrifice themselves for one, but if it was them or their unit they’d go first.

If you want to look for cool quotes in 40K play Darktide and just read the loading screens. They are enlightening to say the very least like: "Life is the Emperor's currency. Spend it well" , "A coward's only reward is to live in fear another day" , "A pity it is that we can die but once in the Emperor's service" or "REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE INQUISITION"
The cowards way to read the quotes is to just look for the .txt online but you know that "An informed opinion must be dismissed with the resolute certainty of faith"
Also I think you do not understand the "most cruel regime imaginable" thing the Imperium has going for them. Servitors and Servo skulls (flying skulls) are used for pretty much anything you would think needs a CPU, like automated doors for example. Never underestimate how deeply f*cked this universe is at it's core, as that is the cool but frightening thing about it

(Basically every cadian is a raised as a soldier, on top of the "classic" imperium civilian) So while the planet's crust was dismantling under them, while liquifed mantle was gushing everywhere around them, the Cadians were fighting like absolute beasts. The planet DID fall before it's people.

Weshammer made a really good Ork video recently if you’re ever interested. It’s a good way to sink your teeth in and see who they are about without Massive Mega Lore to bog it down . Just a simple “here’s Orks and what they think about everyone else”

Despite what pop culture says, the being-nice-to-civilians Salamander trope also applies to the:
White Scars
Space Wolves (they had a skirmish with the Ordo Malleus of the Inquisition and Grey Knights over some civilians and guardsmen and technically won i.e the Months of Shame)
Raven Guard (they're a lot more pessimistic and realistic about it because they know the galaxy is f*cked but they're the most "American" of the founding marines)

People tend to believe some things about 40K due to memes. Imperial guard for example - they do NOT just throw tons of soldiers at the problem. They use proper combined arms tactics and smart manouvering. Most Imperium generals know their s*** (but the exceptions are terrible). As for the lasguns - they are great weapons. You have to remember that the logistics in the imperium is a nightmare given that communication AND travel goes trough the WARP. A lasgun is a reliable weapon that can be easily produced and supplied and it packs enough punch to blow off a limb. A single lasgun power pack can hold 50-200 shots and can be re-changed from virtually any power source. Any army in the world would cream themselves for a lasgun.

never got into the warhammer stuff when i was younger, but considering how much I liked gears of war. if tabletop games were more my things this would definitely be the place. I mean adding a chainsaw to any weapon increases its "cool" factor 200%.
